Music as a Universal Language

Maria Montessori observed that the child goes through the sensitive period of sensory development between 0 and 6 years old. It is also between 0 and 6 years old that the child has this famous "absorbent mind" also described by Maria Montessori: what the child absorbs at this age becomes part of himself and will remain in him forever. It is thanks to this absorbent mind that a child never forgets his mother tongue. Thus everything that the child will have acquired during this period will be forever.

"Music alone is a universal language and does not need to be translated. It is only through it that the soul speaks to the soul."
Berthold Auerbach

"If you want to know a people, you have to listen to their music"
Plato

At this time, it is essential to develop the auditory sense, which will subsequently allow the recognition of sounds, the development of auditory memory, and the mastery of melodic and rhythmic elements.

What better way to refine this sense of hearing than learning music and singing? This sense thus developed will give the child a taste for pretty sounds, for harmony and anything that is disharmonious will shock him.
